Pda communications has provided network solutions for Nottingham City Council for over 8 years. During this time a wide range of projects have been completed, including the infrastructure development of both new and existing buildings. The Council House as a listed building and a major land mark in Nottingham was quite a challenge. |

After surveying the building it was clear there would be many hurdles to overcome to complete the installation to the required standard. For instance, all of the structured cabling would have to be concealed under the floor, often a slow and disruptive process during installation.

Two cabinets were located on the fourth floor as this was to be the main convergence point for the structured cabling, however, with no surface containment available, and with computer and telephone points also required for lower floors, the only option open was to use one of the redundant lift shafts to deliver the infrastructure. |
| With several of Pda's employees coming from an ex-services background, this was not a problem. While based in Germany, Dave Snowdon was a mountaineering instructor for the military and made short work of the lift shaft. |

A sympathetic approach to the aesthetics of individual rooms had to be taken into account, bearing in mind the conservation and historical standing of the building
